Melissa Wishart

Born in Bermuda in 1964. Whilst working in London as an eighteen year old, Melissa attended St Martins School of Art part-time, and during academic studies at Edinburgh University also attended part-time at Edinburgh College of Art. During this time she also made memorable painting trips to a remote fishing village down the east coast, attracted to the rocky shoreline and violent seas.

She has continued life-drawing regularly. After many years exploration with print-making, sculpture, photography and film-making, Melissa now largely paints in oils both plein air and at a studio in Bovey Tracey, Devon and also her studio in Bradford on Avon.

She is particularly well known for her "sky" paintings. She paints landscapes plein air to capture connection. The sea is a life-long subject.
